After an incredible reception at the inaugural Temples Festival this year, Bristol’s SONANCE will be heading to the other side of the country to take the stage at Camden Town’s favourite pub/venue, The Unicorn. On September 27 they will be joined by TORPOR, Edinburgh’s Of Spire & Throne and Cambridgeshire’s Terra to bring an eclectic line up but a unified echo of deeply atmospheric music to the evening.
SONANCE released one of my personal favourite records of 2012 and I reviewed Like Ghosts for Scene Point Blank early the following year. They haven’t been to London for a little while and after trying to book them for the Year Of No Light show last year – which they sadly weren’t able to do – I thought it was about time that they came back to the capital for a little while.
TORPOR have been steadily moving upwards within the sludgy side of the heavy scene and the quartet will be adding a slightly different twist on doom to the evening.
Of Spire & Throne have been making waves across the underground with the release of Toll Of The Wound earlier this year and Terra, while extremely new, have a history within the darker recesses of the scene.
As is customary, entry to the show will be free of charge but please bear in mind that The Unicorn is a pub and under 18s will not be permitted entry. Please bring ID if necessary and like me, you look ten years younger than you actually are. Drinks are wonderfully cheap and the company will be great.
Please indulge in the music.
